But, even the most fanatic can switch styles, refusing to put on MUSICAL AIRS. e's got an earring! He must be a freak. Oh, dude, Deadheads forever! Depeche Mode or Twisted Sister? Dead Kennedys or Grateful Dead? Madonna or Mozart? So many choices to pick from, so many chairs to sit on. Playing the music game at MIHS at least offers much variety, not to mention quality. Sixties lovers may have dominated the senior class, but Islanders soon discovered that the world extended beyond CCR and CSN. Wavers, rockers, and plain old Top 40 listeners each found a comfortable niche in the tolerant atmosphere of 228 MUSIC MIHS. Unfortunately, many people do look down upon others because of their preference in music. Beyond the good-natured arguments over the relative merits of the Violent Femmes and Simon and Garfunkel, some players cannot accept those who prefer a different game. But, the incredible range of musical possibilities thankfully prevents such closemindedness. Like Adam Ant says, So turn off the jukebox, and do us all a favor. That music lost its taste, so try another flavor, If the psychedelic sounds of the Sixties don't seem appealing, try New Wave. If the handclaps and overbearing keyboards drive one crazy, try Jazz, Music games exist for all. Some people even make their whole life their music. They act, dress, eat, drink, and sleep New Wave, Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, or Jazz. Others, on the other hand, simply enjoy listening to the sounds and do not conform to the accompanying styles. Some actually listen to many different kinds of music. ls that possible? Definitely! For, in the game-filled arena of Mercer Island, music is the spice of life!!
