Cheerleaders C 'I 2-HIT it or Miss? THE MYTH: Cheerleaders jump around, yell a lot, and are basically obnoxious. THE TRUTH: Cheerleaders jump around, yell a lot, and do their job. So quit complaining. The importance of these twelve enthusiastic girls to the school lies not in their looks, but in their spirit. They remind one of the grade school music instructor who made one dance, clap, yell, and best of all, made one laugh. They play games which make our games easier to play. Cheerleaders have guts. Chess Club CIHECKMATE hessa. Many blow it off as nothing more than the elibate's way of occupying time. et, chess is more than that, much ore. As senior Alex Goldstein says, Playing chess takes lots of mental iscipline and rigorous training. et, beyond the complex tellectual stuff, Alex admits that e doesn't play chess to test imself, and that in fact chess is just a great way to kill an afternoon. In tact, most of the widely held eliets bout the Chess Club hold no ruth. One does not need a alculator watch and a subscription to Science Digest to join, and one can be of other than the male gender. For, this year, two females joined, Jennifer Croft and Sharon Seldon. This addition destroys the final myth surrounding the club, that one must use Brill Cream in one's hair. So, for all those chess critics out there, lighten up and add a little culture to your lifestyles. Try out the game of chess on a lonely night, or better yet, play a game with your date instead of going to a movie. Who knows, you might lust get a CheckMate!
