Faculty CARD SHARKS hey awake at five a.m., face bridge traffic at six-thirty, and struggle with parking at seven o'clock, only to stress out to l50 loud, obnoxious, and rambunctious students per day. But unlikely as it may seem, they are playing with a full deck! Teachers at MIHS are a rare breed. The qualifications necessary to be- come a member of the faculty far surpass those in many other profes- sions. They must remain sane through six classes a day, five days a week, l8O days a year. They must cope with students' gripes and, on top of it all, enlighten twenty-five to thirty teenagers in subjects ranging from foreign languages to industrial arts. What other job doesn't serve free coffee? Pay S75 school tax. The time is now to give a hand to the fifth column of Mercer Island High School-the Faculty! The en- couraging, always happy, eager to teach adults who make life at Ml worth living. Professor Plum they are not! Each teacher must have the dedi- cation, the physical and mental strength necessary to deal the cards of learning out to his students.
