es, this game marks the introduction of be-bops. he high wails of brass struments accompanied by the ltwooth vocals of the l985-86 Ml zz Choir held crowds in awe roughout the musical season. Directed by Larry Potts, the azz Choir has had enormous ccess this year playing at jazz stivals throughout the Seattle rea. Though a tightly-knit group, Flected through audition by Mr. otts, the choir produces a loud, full sound which sucks in its audience, making it rather difficult to simply sit still and listen. Said an excited student at last fall's concert, 'iThis group really wants to make me move! The name of this game is Victory. The Jazz Choir definitely has what it takes to sing and swing to the catchy beat of jazz. Their singin' definitely carries a winnin' tune! Sf. Concert Choir rowing larger and larger every year, the Ml Concert Choir has improved dramatically through the l985-86 season. Four in a row, One to go. While the Jazz Choir concentrates on jazz, the Concert Choir sings all different types of music. Whether it be modern or classical, the Concert Choir performs each piece beautifully. One can trace much of the group's success to Mr. Larry Potts' superior directing. Clark von Trotha senior, says, While the group as a whole has a lot of talent, Mr. Potts brings it all in . . . He makes us a group. And what a group it is. The spectator lucky enough to hear the Concert Choir perform soon realizes that music is just another game we all play. l26 ith a yawn and a stretch, twenty-one sleepy-eyed members of the Jazz Ensemble wander into the band room. Three early mornings a week, the sounds and rhythms of jazz liven up good ol' Ml. Don Morosic, new director, led the ensemble in a swinging performance of such numbers as Big Mama Cass and Buffalo Breath in the Fall Concert. Q. Jazz Ensemble DARTS While fingers snapped and toes tapped, the unique and exciting jazz beat continued throughout the squad's season. Its sharp tunes and piercing notes pinned all listeners to the wall in awe and pleasure. A special feature this year, the Jazz Ensemble had the opportunity to perform at the Sheraton Hotel for the Postmaster General's introduction of a new stamp booklet commemorating fish. Senior Jett Berven expressed pride in the performance of the ensemble. 'lThis year's Jazz Ensemble set record accomplishments in both music ani artistic ability, he says. Not to mention accuracy. As far as quality and spirit go, the Ml Jazz Ensemble most definitely hit the bull's-eye. . is , A ff A ' '61 . A, ' fs .md . ' ' ' x V W 13 , , J l . l 2-4 f r w!
