They are the most publicized prep team in Washing- ton. Being rated number one in the state and in the nation doesn't come easily. The team character showed through as they survived streaks and peaks, valleys and rallies on their quest for that big gold ball that has shined so closely to Mercer Island in the past. They participated in a very elite tournament in Las Vegas that draws top prep teams from around the nation. Even taking third place only partly quenched their thirst to be the best. Team leadership was rightly vested in captains Scott Weller, future Bluedevil Quin Snyder, and future Wildcat Brian Schwabe. Coaches Ed Pepple and Bill Wooley have once again composed a number one, class-act basketball team. THE LEGEND LIVES ONE!!! I 40 Varsity Boys' Basketball

Basketball team of 1984- 85 was a team of talented depth. Their only loss came by one point to Juanita and the outcomes of their games were rarely in doubt.
