T Barry , Ross O N PhH NOBLE Tom Mencavage's MBA and small hi-tech business ownership give him an insight into how to deal with the problems Bellevue will be facing in the year 2000 and beyond. The input from a family ranging in ages from 4 to 68 give added impetus to solving our present and future problems. Working in Bellevue highlights existing problems and allows him access to people's views on daily problems. Tom's priorities will be: to control the ever increasing traffic in Bellevue through existing programs and resources. introducing proposals to control rents and taxes that seriously jeopardize young families and retirees' ability to own housing and live in Bellevue. Finally, that the existing and future rail and transit systems make sense with our plans for future growth in Bellevue. He is married, with two adult children and 4 grandchildren. Barry has an MBA in Finance from the University of Washington and experience in both the private and public sectors. He was active for many years in a homeowner's association. Barry supports zoning decisions that preserve the suburban character of our neighborhoods., He knows we can hold the line on property taxes and improve the environment for new and small businesses. He will work tirelessly to coordinate both regional and local efforts to reduce traffic congestionzand shorten commute times. He believes that more state revenues must be allocated to our area to provide essential local freeway improvements. He wants to bring his leadership experience and commitment to the'City Council. Phil's priorities include finding solutions to Bellevue's traffic congestion. This means maintaining roads, providing transportation options, and developing workable roadway systems. lt's time to stop talking about problems and put plans into action. Phil's other priorities include presenting neighborhood livability, increasing affordable housing, and encouraging economic viability to provide low taxes plus work and shopping opportunities., He wants city government to work with neighborhoods, business, schools, human service agencies, and community organizations to find creative solutions to problems. Phil will ensure Bellevue's interests in growth management, water, and transportation issues are fully represented at the state and regional level. Grant DEGGINGER City of Bellevue Y Grant Degginger wants Bellevue to,remain a great place to live and work. As a member of the Bellevue Planning Commission for almost seven years, Grant helped rewrite the comprehensive plan and worked to streamline regulations in the land use code while protecting the environment. As a council member, Grant's priorities will be to relieve traffic congestion, protect and enhance neighborhoods, maintain quality police and fire protection services, strengthen partnerships with schools and improve recreation opportunities for children, families and seniors. Grant will be an effective advocate for Bellevue on transportation, growth management and water quality issues in its negotiations with neighboring cities and other levels of govemment. Raised on the Eastside and a Bellevue resident since 1982, Grant is 43 years old, married and has two sons. Grant has been a Little League coach, a scouting volunteer and a public school supporter. HUGHES Bob CRONK Glenn Hughes is a local small business owner who wants to expand the cultural diversity of our community. He believes in securing Bellevue's future as a dominant city in the regions economy through proper zoning and planning. Glenn is a licensed private investigator who would like to see increased support and training for the police department in the field of identity theft. He would also like to see more senlices for seniors and increased outreach for those to whom English is not their primary language. .2 Glenn is a certified eco-system management technician and formerly studied urban and regional planning and development at Valparaiso University under a geography major. He will ensure our urban areas and parks remain in high standing. A former Army engineer who lived in Asia for a year Glenn will work hard to increase our high tech and other ties throughout the Pacific Rim region. Bob Cronk has been a resident of Bellevue for 39 years, graduating from Sammamish High School and Central Washington University with a degree in Accounting. Bob has been a successful local business owner for over 15 years, and knows we must invest wisely in Bellevue's future. As a homeowner and businessman, Bob understands the need for fiscal responsibility, and that a thriving business community generates good jobs and the tax revenue necessary to provide first-class city services while reducing residential taxes. Bob supports pro-active planning to prevent traffic congestion. He believes in excellence in police, fire, and transportation services to protect the livability and safety of neighborhoods. Bob supports enhanced opportunities for youth activities, recreation programs and sports fields. , is our vision for the future. Bellevue is a great place to live and work.
