students' achievements, academics and ability Quill and Scroll The Mercer Island chapter of Quill and Scroll, the international Honorary Society for High School Journalists, carried on the tradition of encouraging and rewarding individual achievements in the iournalistic fields throughout the school year. Headed by Mrs. Clara Hayward, club adviser, Quill and Scroll members were interested in pro- moting research and in evaluating the standards of Mercer Island's publications.
