St. Patriek's Day was celebrated with an Irish Cabaret following performances of Brendan Behan's tragi-comedy THE HOSTAGE directed by William J. Flynn with sets and lighting by Bob Keane, choreography by Christina Klotz, and musical direction by Rosemarie DilVlarino. The drama season, ending in May, closed with the 1928 American comedy classic, THE FRONT PAGE. Directed by William J. Flynn, with sets and lighting by Bob Keane and technical direction by John C. Schenck, this frantically zany concoction of reporter and policeman mayhem delighted packed houses. Like all MCCC presentations, THE FRONT PAGE offered students discount admission and played a special dress rehearsal for senior citizens. When admission is charged to any MCCC presentation, the cost is reasonable, and thus such productions provide the opportunity for everyone to enjoy our vast cultural heritage. The pro- gram closed with the musical com- edy NO, NO, NANETTE. Shown here is one ol' the many chorus numbers from that 1920's show. At the same time the fall semester classes began, ENGLISH MUSIC HALL played a return engage- ment for several weekends in Sep- tember, directed by Jason Barnes. Pictured at left is the home of the Royal Shakespeare Company, one of the stops on the Seminaris lively itinerary. OTHELLO One of the most difficult dramatists to present successfully is Shakespeare. Au- diences may have seen other productions of his tragedies and eomediesg contemporary actors may have difficulty with the Bard's blank verse dialogue and soliloquies. MCCC's production of Shakespeare's por- trait of the affect of jealousy on love ranks hrst in its long line of successful presenta- tions. ln an abridgement by Mr. Flynn. OTHELLO presented Donald Jones with the greatest challenge of his illustrious ca- reer, but this multi talented actor rose to every challenge. With sets by Bob Keane, technical direction by John C. Sehenek and direction by William J. Flynn, the produc- tion was a triumph. Cast: Donald Jones Ben Fults Frank Bilaneio Frank Cirillo Sunni Farrington Andrew Hornyak Tom Moffit Kathryn l.
