544 f N ll I , . U 5 W' - ' 41 qi Q 'U Foreword FOUR years of good times, disappointments, and hard work have passed since Cardinal McKey first entered Mentor High School. We, the class of '54, have chosen him to guide you through the past year via the i954 edition of Cardinal Notes. Cardinal is a typical senior - gay, full of fun, friendly, but also highly conscientious. He may at times seem slightly eccentric to the underclassmen and teachers, but not to us who have realized our dream of becoming seniors. We remember just four short years ago when Cardinal was but a shy, quiet and somewhat self-conscious Freshman. However, he conquered his timidity and came through successfully to become a rather sophisticated Sophomore, With the Junior year came more privileges - many extra-curricular activities plus the highlight of the year, the Junior-Senior Prom. Then came the final test - that of being a senior, when he and his classmates had to take over the leadership of the school and when they received the honor of occupy- ing the front seats in the auditorium. He has unlocked the doors, one at a time, sometimes losing the key, but always finding it again, until finally he has unlocked the last door, that which leads to the future and there is where he leaves us. You underclassmen who have depended upon him need never fear, for Cardinal is going on to greater things! Take him by the hand and follow him through the past year which neither you nor he will ever forget. 6
