Mr. Dale R. Rice The Graduating Class of l95O: The theme of your year book, Mid-Century , sug- gests the characteristic of the Roman God, Janus, who can look both forward and backward. From this van- tage point, we may look both directions-to the past to see what has gone before and to the future to see what lies ahead. ln terms of a century, Mentor High School is very young. It was established only half of the half century ago. During its brief existence, it has grown from in- fancy into a lusty youth and its size is about six times its meager beginning. Before it reaches its half-century mark, it should reach a full grown maturity, both in size and accomplishment, which should be far beyond the scope of our imaginations. You, as seniors, are graduating and starting your lives looking forward rather than backward in anticipa- tion of what is in store during the next half-century. You are graduating at an age when you will be able to see and experience the amazing developments of the half-century ahead. If progress in science and industry develops as in the past, wonderful accomplishments and revelations are in store for you. BOARD OF EDUCATION Left to right: Dr, R. M. Fagan, D. R. Rice, John Shaffer, E. H, Schultz, Earl Ives, H, J. Wilson, Harry Hoefler, ten
