Senior Class Prophecy It’s June of 1970 and the gaily decorated streets of Frenchburg pro- claim the arrival of Menifee’s child of fortune, the lovely Miss Delores Wright, star of stage, screen, and television. She, (along with her manager husband, James Hager) has returned to be filmed in her home surroundings. She has invited the graduating class of 1960 to a reunion party. Among the first guests to arrive are Joe Craft and his wife the former CarolCaudel. Joe is now coach at Menifee Co. High School, but plans to run for governor as soon as his age permits. As the party begins I see Lester Faulkner, famous dance instructor from Arthur Murray Studios jitterbugging with opera star Ann Khule, When the dance ends, they rush to greet Sue Little and her fiance who have just flown here from Texas where they are stationed in the Air Force. The elaborate lighting of the ballroom was planned by Jimmy Lisle, R.E.A, Superintendent, ably assisted by Elizabeth Downs, Interior Decorator. In the corner Daniel Botts, Menifee Conservation Officer, Jerry Wells the famous orator, and Joe Gannon, sheriff, set spellbound as James Trimble re- lates some of his most exciting experiences. James surprised us by becoming a big game hunter in Africa instead of a History Professor. Jerry Williams, reporter for Time magazine, sits by taking notes. Meanwhile Mrs. Ancel Spencer, formerly Phyllis Pugh, Mrs. Janice Hale Hunt, Genola Profitt, now a famous author, have retired to the powder room to hear Janice Ross and Judy Helton, operators of a reducing salon in Cincinnati, lecture on weight control, always a popular subject with ladies. Newell Dyer enters, accompanied by Bobby Beer head bouncer at the Golden Rocket, Newell’s celebrated nite club in Miami. Recent entertainers there were comedian Delbert Spencer, Velmer Back the Master Magician and Edie Helton the local Edie Gorme. This trio entertained the guests with a delightful display of their talents. We were so glad that Mr. and Mrs. Robert Combs could attend this re- union. Robert, an F.B.I. agent, is currently working on a secret assignment for the President. Coming down from Wahington with the Combs’ was noted rocket designer Kenneth Pitts and Sue Welch, governess of the President’s grand- children. Holding down the punch bowl in the center of the room are Jess Brewer, cashier in a Mt. Sterling bank, James Pflug, the local barber, Phyllis Little, county Health Nurse and her secretary Mrs. Ruth Haney. They listen intently as Roger Wells tells of his trip to Texas as head of the Cattlemen’s Asso- ciation. Betty Nolan, National F.H.A. President, is lovely in a gown designed by Minnie DeRossett, owner of a fashion shop in Lexington along side the Beauty Bar owned by Patty Brown and Anna Joyce Williams. Anita Pitts flew all the way from Los Angeles where she is librarian at U.C.L.A. Dr. Ronald Spencer, Pediatrician, arrived from Boston on a jet piloted by Capt. Vernon Wilson of Pan-American airlines. Mrs. Logan Murphy, formerly Geneva Tolson, lovely mother of twin boys, and Patty Sorrell, teacher of Dramatics at U.K. were asking Minnie Clifford about dress making. Minnie is seamstress for the governor’s wife. As the band, directed by Darrell Peyton, plays “Home Sweet Home’’ we say goodbye with thoughts of school days in our minds and best wishes in our hearts for our classmates.
