SOCIAL STUDIES SOCIETY DEMANDS ORDER THROUGH LAW. Through Social Studies, the students of Menard learn the great heritage of Ameri- canism and the obligations and privileges of freedom. Through the Civics course, Menard students learn the obligations and rights which they possess as citizens in a free society, and the political structure of the United States. World History enhances the student's ap- preciation of the valuable heritage left him by the peoples of ancient civilizations and of the trends of the past which have led to the traditions of the present. Seniors take a look at both the American tradition and the forces which are presently threatening to destroy it. They study the history of America from the Indians to the present day and learn of the Communist menace which threatens to destroy not only America, but also the principles for which she stands. It is through a determined effort and the awareness of responsibility which Social Studies creates that Menard students will grow to be responsible citizens in the world of tOmOrrOW.
