This motto urged Brother Polycorp to send the tirst Brothers to America. This motto has, throughout an entire century, motivated the Brothers in their activities, consoled them in their trials, encouraged them to carry on tor the Sacred l-leart, And, as this century of service draws to a close, to usher in a new era, we litt the curtain that conceals the tuture and contemplate new Brothers in new and vaster tields ot action, but always we hear reechoed the some mottog Ametur Cor Jesul A heart-warming vision: the small band ot tive pioneers has become a legion ot stalwart apostles, the whisperf ed motto ot devotion to Christ has become a chorus ot seltededication rising trom the hearts and throats ot many and swelling to the heavens whence it reverberates in unending rhythmi O Sacred Heart, we plight to Thee Our honor, health, and liberty, O Sacred l-leart, we vow to Thee Our lite, our faith, our worship tree, O Sacred l-leart, we pledge to Thee Our all in loving loyalty. This devotion has been little noted by the world, the works which are its expression have not been trumpeted on the winds, the men whose lives were spent therein have passed unknown to many. But, that devotion is gloriously written in a better world, the value of its deeds is voiced in the living characters they have formed, and the heroes of its drama will ever live in the memory of its beneficiaries.
