The team was small, being dwarfed most of the time by its opponents, but proved itself to be a scrappy aggregation, by its record. The boys won six games, and lost five. High point man for the season was Charlie DiStefano who tallied up lOC points, The opponents' total score was 256 while M-enard's was 289. KNEELING: Malcolm Hebert, Charles Gremillion, Soffbaff and Kenna Menarcl's first official softball team in years was organized right after mid-term. Though it didn't get to practice very often, you would never have known it, if you could have seen its performance at the Central Rally, where it lost by only one point. Tennis was upheld this year by the sole efforts of Gene Glankler. But don't think that he clidn't make up for the little team that wasn't there , even by himself. Gene attended the Central Louisiana Rally and came in second with a silver medal. More power to you, Genel GENE GLANKLER mek rm WJMZ Paul Delacroix Lonnie Lachney Phil Boogaerts Aubrey Blank KNEELING: Buford Lachney Charlie DiStefano John DeVanie Track was continued this year through the efforts of these boys. Although track does not play an important part in inter-school competition, other than the rally, it is the one sport that prepares its followers for all the others. lncidentally, Menard did well at the Central Louisiana Rally: Aubrey Blank won two first places, with gold medals. Handball is quite a sport at Menard-the reason being the brick walls everywhere. At right are our Singles and Doubles Champions. To those students who attain certain averages in their school work, the custom at Menard has been to give them a special word at praise. Bytheir ettorts and hard work, they have placed themselves on the Honor Roll. The re- quirements tor the l-lonor Roll students are: to make the Roll at Honor three out ot the tirst tour terms, by at- taining atleast 85941 in each branch at study. iirvikiir iqma H b t Bordelon, Ralph Coleman, Kenneth Flynn, Pat Aertker, Joe Tullier, Phl Boogaerts, Jack Harrington, lrving Bordelon, Albert t-loutz, Bert C bo Charlie DiStetano , . The highest honor which can be conterred upon a Senior who graduates from Menard is to be enrolled in the Mu Eta Sigma-Menard's only Fraternity. To merit mem- bership, a boy must be an outstanding student in the line ot activities. The third ot the class having the most Ac- tivity Points is admitted to the Mu Eta Siigma. Activities in the course ot the school year are means ot gaining these points. During the time ot enrollment ot every stu- dent, a tabulation ot points is kept. At the time ot his graduation, these points are totaled. It the student merits it, he is admitted to the Mu Eta Sigma. viirvirvik .Mu CCM afkm' Club We at Menard owe a debt at gratitude and heart-telt thanks to these women, our mothers. By their untiring ettorts tar improving the school, they have come to de- serve much more than our gratitudeg they deserve our remembrance tor many, many years to Come, and our unwavering support. Furnished in beauty as well as comfort, it provides an excellent exposure and view ot the campus. i ffm ay muff The climax ot the social year and high spot in the students' favor is the annual May Festival and coronation. Participants in this exclusive pageant are drawn from the boys and girls ot the three Catholic schools of the city. The girls who are to be candidates tor Queen are selected by the Senior Class at Menard, the girls, in turn, choose the boys with whom they wish to enter the contest. ln addition, each girl must pick a court tor herself which, it she wins, will be the Crown Court in the festival. Last year our Coronation was held in the Municipal Auditorium, a most appropriate place tor such an activity. lt was, without doubt, the most im- pressive and brilliant of its kind ever staged by Menard up to that time. ygpiilllimb AWN gir l, , :: . ., s f? fi, 3.5 I KENNETH FLYNN Associate Editor CLYDE MILLER Features Editor ALBERT HOUTZ Sports Editor JACK HARRINGTON Editor 626 Sfaff Only a word about the staff of this Menardian. They have worked untir- ingly for the final success of the Little Green Book which, it is hoped, gives a panoramic view of life at Menard. Many a headache, and many a laugh have come in the course of the work. However, it is all made up for in the fact that the book is com- pleted, and has, in some measure, lived up to the great expectations of the staff, To them, thanks a Millionl Editor of THE MENARDIAN Jack Harrington, Jr. We .f-.ww 4-and-W BERT CARBO Circulation Manager as W5 6 'Q EQ: ' :HL 2 kg 'xi W 5, J' 'K 5 5 'VAL T xi L, 1 W'-bswffv f Q, f ,W .,.,,.. . a., H A is lf' mi it PAT AERTKER Business Manager LOUIS FRANTZ Organizations Editor IRVING BORDELON Photography G?LLf0qI'6LiOlZ 5 Gfufoqrapks R 11 S 11 9 S Compliments of SUPER MARKET RETAIL RUSH'S MODERN BAKERY ALEXANDRIA BOLTON AND JACKSON A.
