Pep rally in triple Rain but victory The annual Memphis State homecoming weekend began with a gigantic pep rally, televised by WKNO, and a most enjoyable concert by the Four Lads. On Saturday morning the dedication ceremonies for the new Business Administration building and the Nellie Angel Smith Women ' s dormi- tory were held, with many students, alumni, state and local government offi- cials, and friends in attendance. That eve- ning the 1962 Homecoming Queen was crowned among the multitudes of um- brellas and raincoats. An MSU victory over Mississippi Southern assured us that we had passed another successful home- coming. Dr. Nellie Angel Smith was honored by the dedication of the new women ' s dormitory in her name. 20

Tigers roll over State October 27, 1962, has gone down in the memories of the students here at the University as the day we beat cow college . . . Yes, we won our sweetest victory of the year that day ... 28 State, that ' s Memphis State, 7 Mississippi State . . . After 40 tries for a victory over a SEC team we finally achieved our goal. We continued our enthusiasm even after the game with an attempt to carry the goal post off . . . however, this tradition was denied . . . Monday after the game President Hum- phreys gave credit to the men of the gridiron for their well earned victory . . . With this recognition the spoils of victory were com- plete.
