Demure femininity was replaced with the vengeance of an erupted volcano when A D Pi encountered Phi Mu on the gridiron . . . 250 scattered spectators looked on as the weaker sex waged war against each other . . . The dreams of Chantilly lace were erased for the roughness of the game . . . The fruits of the afternoon rendered a 12-6 victory for the A D Pi ' s . . . Bruises, bandages, and limps were the aftermath for the participants of the afternoon. The forward wall gets set for the charge as A D Pi starts it move up field for its victory. 19

Boys ' rush The cleaning and painting of the houses, the polishing of the picture frames, and the wax- ing of floors present the respectable front for fall rush by the fraternities . . . Girls rush, registration, and now fraternity rush . . . From morning t ' ll dusk the planning, partying and handshaking goes on . . . The smiles and shakes and sessions wear on during the mid- week with peanuts, popcorn, and fraternity pins right here being heard throughout the campus . . . Spike bidding occupies the popu- lar theme for a good pledge class and is ac- cepted by all . . . throughout the week this goes on and into the nights go the ball ses- sions . . . Pressure, pressure, pressure . . . weaiy upperclassmen and confused freshmen ... As suddenly as it began it ends with happy rejoicing with the giving out of the bids. Pep rally in triple Rain but victory The annual Memphis State homecoming weekend began with a gigantic pep rally, televised by WKNO, and a most enjoyable concert by the Four Lads. On Saturday morning the dedication ceremonies for the new Business Administration building and the Nellie Angel Smith Women ' s dormi- tory were held, with many students, alumni, state and local government offi- cials, and friends in attendance. That eve- ning the 1962 Homecoming Queen was crowned among the multitudes of um- brellas and raincoats. An MSU victory over Mississippi Southern assured us that we had passed another successful home- coming. Dr. Nellie Angel Smith was honored by the dedication of the new women ' s dormitory in her name. 20
