As Summer drifts into Autumn, we return for our last year at Melrose High School. Old friends greet us while we look at the traditionally posted” homeroom lists. The familiar smell of newness,” waxed floors, and spotless blackboards is everywhere. The Seniors enjoy seeing the familiar teachers in classrooms, in the cafeteria, and after school. We also look forward to initiating the new” teachers to our ways! Throughout our high school lives, teachers have instructed us, helped us to explore new realms, befriended us, guided our clubs, coached our sports, and chaperoned our dances. More and more we realize that they are an invaluable part of our lives; beyond being instructors, they are advisors, helpers, and friends!

Mr. A. Imrie Dixon Principal A poet long ago wrote these words: I am a part of all that I have met.” Each of you, of the Class of 19 66, echo the same thought as you stand ready to move forward into new experiences. Looking back on the past four years, you see much out of your school life which has become a part of you and your personality. Large as we are, and we are a big school, there are intimate experiences: in a classroom, in the thoughts and reflections of a teacher, in an exciting game in the field, at a meeting of a favorite club or activity, in the corridors of the school, and in the vital experience of being a part of something bigger and more important than ourselves — we find all these experiences contribute to what we are as human beings. It is the sum total of all that you have met in and out of the classroom, as well as the skills and knowledge you possess, that has shaped each one of you in your character and personality. Lrom your school you will go forth to meet the future. Your commence- ment is but a beginning of what we all hope will be a rich and fruitful life.
