History As fall rolled around in the year 1946 there were twenty-three new pupils jumping up the front steps of the old school house at M. L. We all went through our trials and errors with Mrs. Reasor. Our ranks increased to twenty-eight in the second grade. There we memorized our A-B-C's and were all rewarded with little airplanes, to our delight. The third grade found us out at Espanola—twenty-seven strong. The next year found us at the same place but we had lost two of our rank. At Espanola we had ourselves a great time because there was nobody there but the two grades. We diminished in rank to twenty during the fifth grade. Many of us were given the chance to participate in band for the first time. In the sixth grade we were upstairs with the high school students, under the guidance of Mrs. Willms. What a ball! The eighth grade was climaxed by graduation, in which twenty-one participated. They were as follows: Miriam Ackerman, Virgil Andrews, Rebecca Boland, Rita Fait, Jon Grallap, Allen Grub, Mill Grub, Jack Harkness, Larry Henning, Jerry Hines, James Krell, Dale Lowery, David Palman, Stanton Parmeter, Sharon Perrin, Georgia Perrin, Gerald Reitmeier, Tommy Rogers, George Sims, Ed Sonneborn, Ronald Stutheit. The Freshman year found us quite green frosh-twenty-six strong-as we went into initiation, which showed just where we stood. In the Sophomore year we were really glad to discard the name of Frosh and do some initiating of our own. That year our basketball team went to state for the first time in the school's history. The next year proved to be quite different for us as upperclassmen. The year was highlighted for us by giving the Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet. The Senior year was highlighted by the sneak and graduation as twenty-one seniors marched up the aisle and wept on the way back down. There were eight students who went through twelve grades together. They are: Rita Fait, Jerry Hines, Jim Krell, Mill Grub, Allen Grub, Larry Henning, and Gerald Reitmeier. Besides these there were six more that went through high school together. They are: Beverly and Barbara Aucutt, Stan Parmeter, George Sims, Edward Sonneborn, and Miriam Ackerman. Gerald Reitmeier
