Joe Chicurel President Alpha Sigma Chi honorary leadership society was founded at MCV in 1938. The society recognizes those students who have contributed to student ac- tivities and demonstrated high qualities of leader- ship and character. Each Spring a banquet is held to honor newly selected members. Sigma Zeta Honorary Science Society Brenda Smith President Elaine Woods Vice-President Sigma Zeta, a national science honorary society, was formed in 1925, at Shurtleff College in Illinois by a group of young men just out of graduate school, who were interested with the ideals of sound scholarship. MCV received its charter as the third, or Gamma, chap- ter in 1927. A segment of the wood in the handle of the official national gavel comes from the flooring of the Egyptian Building, the oldest building on our cam- pus. Membership is restricted to junior and senior stu- dents of acceptable scholarship in any field of the sci- ences and mathematics. Gamma Chapter inducts new members in the spring of each year and honors them with a banquet. Hugh Douglas Treasurer
