Ambroise Pare, Father of Surgery, is shown in center of the top picture. It was during his time that there was a revival of interest to provide better techniques in the field of surgery. The reintroduction of ligatures for typing blood vessels was one of Fare ' s many achievements. His observa- tion, experience, research and writings pro- vided many of the fundamentals for new developments. Through progress during the years, to- day ' s operating room is modern and well equipped. Sterile instruments and tech- niques are being used with the best known up to date surgery being performed.
