Iincipa s essa e The admInIstratIon views with satIsfactIon many of the accomplishments of the past months of work now nearly completed Medford SenIor HIgh School has offered an opportunlty for each student to buIld a solid foundatlon for Immedlate wartlme s rvlce and also a well balanced cItIzen shIp In a natron faced wIth the world s problems of tomorrow More Important than FGTFOSDGCTIOH however IS the survey of what we hope to achIeve Educatlon IS saId to be the sum total of life s expenences a contInuous process from the time of bIrth untIl death The small part of a lIfetIme spent In high school IS of vItal Importance The serlousness of the tlmes has done much to promote serious thInkIng among the molorlty of the young p ople of this group and to strengthen theIr d ter mInatIon to avall thems Ives of the advantag s al hand The possession of a high school diplonea is a matter of greater consequence now than ever before DaIly requests are receIved from former students now In the armed forces who have drop ped school before graduatlng for InformatIon on how they mIght qualIfy for a hIgh school dIploma From a standpoInt of patrlotlsm students owe It to themselves and to their country to remaIn ID school and to use theIr time whIle In high school to the very best advantage Never before In the his tory of our country has there been a greater need for cItIzens with abIlIty to thlnk clearly and act wisely The fate of tomorrow s world wIll be In th hands of todays hIgh school students lt wIll b theIr big opportunlty to prove to a war weary world that thIs present war has not been fought In vain Lester D Harris 8 lt IS dIffIcult for me to wrIte thIs farewell, because there IS so much l would lIke to say and so lIttle that l can put Into words First I want to state that this has been one of the best years of my IIf The school year was really an active one d SDITE necessary dIffIcultIes caused by wortIme shortag s Student cooperatIon wIth Student Coun cIl and faculty was especially encouraging cours there were the usual organIzatIon problems at the b gInnIng but once we got started every thlng worked out fIne SInce there were fewer seniors In school b cause of th draft many more responsIbIlItIes were delegated to underclassmen who really turned out splendld work The Sophomore Class that came over this year was exceptionally large and mem b rs were Immedlately glven theIr full share of dutI s All of them came through wIth the right kInd of product General partI IpatIon In school OCTIVITIES and sports was also good and the outlook IS even b tter for the comlng years Last fall Medford HIgh pro du ed a football t am that won State Champion shIp laurels This added another great achieve school ln WOI'l4II'lQ for the school and the student body one grows to love and cherlsh the memories of all th y repres nt lt IS with more than a lIttle r gret that l say farewell to these ln closIng l want to thank th admInIstratIon the faculty and th entIre student body for their fIne COODGFOTIOH and to say that l feel both proud and fortunate to have b en a m mber of Medford High School John Bullock Presldents arewe I l . l - 1 ' e. - A , S .
