We are proud of your accomplish- ments at Medfield High, and thank you for giving us an opportunity to be of service to you. May you always enjoy happiness, con- tentment and well-being. Sincerely, Thomas A. Blake Superintendent of Schools Message to Graduates Our year together has been a very gratifying one for me. I feel privileged to have the oppor- tunity to know you. May your life be richly endowed with the blessings of happiness, love and health. RUSSELL H. JOHNSTON, JR. Principal ‘‘The flowers, the multicolored flowers of life; but people, true flowers of a most precious temporarily strolled gorgeous, mystic, are not the flowers yes people are the life: and it has been pleasure to have in your garden.” — Lord Buckley 0 Clouds are not the cheeks of angels you know they’re only clouds. Friendly sometimes, but you can never be sure. If I had longer arms I’d push tne clouds away or make them hang above the water somewhere else, but I’m just a man who needs and wants, mostly things he’ll never have. Looking for that thing that’s hardest to fiiid— I’ve been going a long time now along the way I’ve learned some things. You have to make the good times yourself take the little times and make them into big times and save the times that are all right for the ones that aren’t so good. I’ve never been able to push the clouds away by myself. Help me. Please. 7 We were talking — about the love we all could share — when we find it To try our best to hold it there — with our love. With our love — we could save the world — if they only knew. Try to realize it’s all within yourself no one else can make you change And to see you’re really only very small, and life flows on within you and without you . . . in. -m k; u 4 . “I used to get mad at my school The teachers that taught me weren’t cool You’re holding me down, turning me round Filling me up with your rules. I’ve got to admit it’s getting better A little better all the time.” —Lennon McCartney 10 “And all the snowmen are melting away the children go again on their way while the snow, the snow keeps on falling all white like the down of a dove The snow, the snow keeps on falling worthless, like the tears you cry over love.” —Rod Mckuen 12 “Come on people now Smile on your brother. Everybody get together. Try to love one another right now.” 13 Magic is afoot . . . Magic never died . . . Magk never weakened . . . Magic never hid. Magic ruled . . . We’ve stopped and talked to you, probably leaving you more confused than ever. Ed Abar led the team this year as highest scorer with 102 points. Ed, along with Michael Otis, Don Conlon and Peter Martino, made several all-scholastic teams. The Seniors contributed largely to the team this year and will be missed during next year’s season. We salute the entire team for a fine exciting performance. Head Coach — Bill Young Asst. The sesison’s final outcome of ten wins and two losses was the result of hard work and long practice and gave the team third place in the Tri- Valley League. Led by four experienced Seniors, the underclassmen are on their way to more years of league contention. Varsity team members included: Co-captain — Mark Bell Senior — Jeff Monaghan Co-captain — Larry Childs Senior — Mark Werner Jr. — Bob Swain Coach — Bob “Bumper” Belmont 65 BIG BLUE BASKETBALL 66 BASKETBALL Medfield Big Blue Basketball gained statewide publicity for its outstanding performances this season. With a regular season record of 16 wins and 4 losses, including a school scoring record of 106 points in one game, the Big Blue was co-champion in Division A of the Tri- Valley League and qualified for the Tech Tourney. The team went on to win second place in the league and then concentrated on its Tech Tourney performance. Starting with an all-time, all class, scoring record of 100 points in their first game, the Big Blue advanced to the finals of the Tech for Class D. This fine performance qualified Medfield for the Small School State Championship. The team’s success was sparked by the superb performance of several players. Jeff Coon became the first player in Medfield’s history to score 1000 points. Dave Iverson was selected All League first-string guard. Chuck Daniels and Jeff Coon were selected for the All League second team as forwards. , . ,, .
