Honor Roll lust before graduation suspense reaches its peak when the names of those on the Honor Roll are read. Since there are probably many of you who do not know how the Honor Roll is determined we thought we would try to explain it to you. Our hopes are that many more of you will have your names on it in future years. Marks are scored according to a point system set up by the Department of Education. They are in three classes College Preparatory Courses such as Spanish and College English 12, etc., which equal 8 points for an A . It is important therefore to take courses that are a little harder thus carrying more points if your goal is the Honor Roll. Each year all of your grades are averaged together and that average is your total average for the year. When you graduate, the four averages are added h d f ra e is a B or higher you will have made the Honor Roll We. are proud of those seniors who have achieved this goal It is with great pride that we, the graduating class of 1954, present our scholastic leaders. Page Twenty-Iwo 2 .xdcfiuifiea Activities are as numerous at MA as the classes taught. These activities are held both in the class room and out, they break the school routine and give the students not only one opportunity to develop their talents, but also a chance to work together and get greater enjoyment out of school. Knowledge of different subjects and development of leadership abilities are brought forth through activities. Students who may some day be journal- ists, scientists, or professional people may obtain their start in these activities. The music and speech departments not only entertain the school but develop their own knowledge of the activity. While the Student Council and class representatives act as mediators between the students and the faculty and guide the students through their four years at MA, they obtain leadership qualities that will help them in the future. These activities present many events that highlight the school year. Such events include: Homecoming with its football game and splendid dance, Sno-Day with dance and frolic in the snow, the operetta which this year was 'Mikado,' and the plays and assemblies we all enjoyed. Throughout the year activities play a major role in school life.
