Government Loud, riotous tunes vibrating in the student lounge reminded everyone that Meadowdale finally got a jukebox in '68-'69. This was an improvement origi- nated and fostered by the As- sociated Student Body - in fact, one of the few ideas that actually originated with the students themselves. A.S.B. also sponsored other projects such as Lights for Life, a program designed to place street lights in front of the school to help prevent further accidents. However, it will be the jukebox that students will long remem- ber as the improvement they wanted most, and the expres- sion of their will. FUTURE TEACHERS OF MERICA Officers for the 68-69 year were: KL TO RI Suzanne Staats, Char Bethell and Aileen Wright, 148 Future Teachers of America, a fairly new club at Meadowdale, has built itself into a tremendously worthwhile organization. It not only acquaints stu- dents with the good, bad, and different varieties of teaching, but performs many community services. Some of these services were tutoring at grade schools, student teaching, and taping lessons for the blind. HERE THE BOYS ARE Brawn, looks, and athletic achievement- the keys to entering Varsity Club? Well, maybe, but not quite. According to Mr. Pat Eason, the real purpose of Varsity Club is to promote citizenship through athlet- ics. Among their activities were the schol- arship fund raiser and selling programs at football games. Spring plans included the Varsity Club Social and the Ugly Man Contest. Acting as a school service organization, the Active Boys' Club put on the annual Boys' Club Dance and kept the reader board up to date every week. In May, the boys put on the annual all-school outdoor track meet. Mr. Lee said they hoped to raise money and plant rhododendrons around the school. a 1 E YSUH IHIRST AWAY!
