c tUletlc Banquet The annual Trojan Athletic Banquet was held in the school auditorium on March 10, 1959. The auditorium was decorated in red and white. The throne was on the north side of the room. The east wall featured stars with the names of the lettermen. The highlight of the evening was the crowning ofQueen Sandra Lewis and King Milan Praeuner. First attendants were Kathleen Kuchar and Leslie Sparr. Second attendants were Bonna Margritz and Jerry O’Banion. Third attendants were Marilyn Droescher and Rodney Suckstorf. Fourth attendants were Kathleen Meyer and Roger Suckstorf. Crown bearers were Kathy Pratt and Tommy Gilbert. CoachSpear presented football and basketball letters to David DeCamp, Douglas Ellis, Jerry O’Banion, Milan Praeuner, Leslie Sparr, Arlyn Suckstorf, Rodney Suckstorf, Gary Werner, and Harlan Weingart. Football letters went to David Schinck, Roger Suckstorf, and Jerry Wyatt. Student managers were Jack Wynn, football; and Darrell Wyatt, basketball. Darrell Wyatt was toastmaster. Lynda Black played the processional and recessional for the coronation. Entertainment was furnished by the girls’ trio, girls’ sextette, and the boys’ chorus, all accompanied by Lynda Black. Harold Thompson, Norfolk Junior College coach, gave the main address. Mr. Merklinger spoke in recognition of the girls’ volleyball team. Mothers of the Pep Club members prepared the meal. Seventh and eighth grade girls served the meal.

The Pep Club Girls wore red corduroy skirts and white blouses. The First leam Cheerleaders wore red slipover sweaters with white dickies and white corduroy skirts. The Second I earn Cheerleaders wore white turtle-neck slipover sweaters and red corduroy skirts. During home football and basketball games, the girls took turns selling pop, candy, gum, popcorn, and doughnuts and coffee to raise money for the annual Athletic Banquet.

 unior-sSenior Banquet “With A Song In My Heart” was the theme for the Junior-Senior banquet, which was held May 13, 1959 in the school auditorium. Arlyn Suckstorf was toastmaster and gave the welcome. Rodney Suckstorf gave the response. The girls’ sextette sang “With A Song In My Heart,” and Mrs. Henry sang “The Lilac Tree,” both accompanied by Lynda Black. Harlan Weingart read a poem about the seniors, and Georgia Grant played an accordian solo, “Melody Of Love.” Superintendent Merklinger gave a short address. Guests entered the auditorium through entered through a gate in a stone wall. a path flanked with baskets of flowers. The dining area was A garden scene with a couple dancing was on the west wall. The Juniors’ mothers prepared the meal. The following sophomores and freshmen served: Sharon Banner, Joyce Lyall, Joyce Humphrey, Jerry Wyatt, Beth McIntosh, Douglas Lllis, George Duchow,and Ronnie Zierke. -26—
