Out of twelve class members, eleven were represented in the cast of the FOOLPROFF MURDER. When Dunstan Trahan's secretary, Shirley Hoyt, came on ahead to open up their summer home, she meets Mrs. Percy Walter, a nosy neighbor, and hires a colored maid, Vista. When Dunstan arrives with his wife, Violet, they find the lights out and Shirley gone. They find a murder has taken place and Dunstan, a prominent novelist, decided to write a book about it. Chris Cross, a dumb detective, comes to solve the murder of Julie Bennett, a young writer. Paul Merritt, a young man who creates suspicion, comes to see Shirley. Lottie Allison, comes to see Violet Trahan and falls in love with the detective. Anna Ray, a beautiful young girl who walks in her sleep, causes a big commotion, and Dr. Benedict Birch appears on the floor dead then disappears. The mystery is all cleared up in the last act with Paul and Shirley and Chris and Lottii becoming engaged and Dunstan all ready to start his novel. Rosemary DeCamp was very efficient as prompter. The director, Mr. Larson, was very helpful in making the play a success along with Charles Dahl, stage manager, and Richard Waechter, his assistant. Kay Wilson and Helen Pulley, two sophomores, assisted as ushers. 23
