In September, 1950, twenty seven freshmen started the long, hard climb toward their goal, Graduation. The first steep hill was our freshman year. We elected Ronnie Lewis, as our President; Janice Dreger, Vice-president; Dixie Ferry, Secretary and news reporter; and Bob McKnight, Treasurer. Mr. Weber was our sponsor the two years. On October 3, we reached another obstacle-initiation day. We all managed to live through it however, and later enjoyed!!! several other parties. We were sorry that Dixie Ferry and Maynard Mozer could not be with us for a while because they became ill with rheumatic fever. Mary Wesche and LaVonnc Roder joined us as we were nearing the end of our Freshman year. We rested a while and then resumed our journey. As sophomores we knew the ropes of high school better and could really enjoy ourselves. Carolyn Luttmann, Evangeline Vereplank, and Bill Yenter did not return to travel with us. Raymond Ryan and Mary Wsche left us later. We elected Jimmie Holton as our new president; Joe Sanne, vice-president; Joan Weerts, secretary; Kay O'Banion, treasurer; and Raymond Ryan news reporter. We stopped again for another summer vacation, but were glad to return in the fall to become the juniors of M. G. H. S. We gained two new class members, Marian Fuller and Daniel Denny, but we lost Joe Dusel. We started the year off by electing our officers which were as follows: president, Dick Wyatt; vice-president, Marilyn Daniel; secretary, Joan Weerts; treasurer, Daniel Denny; and news reporter, Dixie Ferry. As tokens of all our hard work, we ordered our class rings, with which everyone seemed to be well satisfied. In September we had a party at the Yellow Banks. In December we gave the play Go West, Young Man! In the spring we gave a Banquet for the Seniors. The cheerleaders from our class were LaVonne Rodcr and Dixie Ferry. Several of our boys were on the football and basketball teams. Miss Duthie was our sponsor the first semester, and Mrs. Faubel was our sponsor the second semester. We have just one more year to go; then we will have reached our goal. And when we stand with caps and gowns, we will see that our hard journey has been only a short part of a much longer, much harder journey-the road to SUCCESS.
