CLASS PROPHECY One dark night as old Father Time was wandering through the cemetery, he chanced to see the tombstones of the Class of ' 53. As he looked upon them, the years fell away and he saw them in life's prime. He remembered best an election year when Robert Hopkins, the famous orator was running for re-election to the Senate. This Nebraska Senator had really made a name forhimself all over the nation. He also remembered how Robert Warrick, who remained a strong Democrat, no longer discussed politics because his Republican wife ruled the roost and sometimes ruled the rooster. Going on, he saw Elna Mae Weerts auctioneering cows to Donna Rae Daugherty and her husband, who -ran a dairy farm. They specialized in cows that gave chocolate milk. Elna had also taken up hog calling. Eudell Feldman was an actor on television. His specialty was love scenes with Darlene Duhachek (carry over from Junior play). Darlene was married to a man 35 years her senior, who never drove over 25 miles an hour, (quiet a difference, huh?) Father Time’s thoughts now wandered to Lotus Weingart, who had just returned from her favorite foreign country, Japan. She had taken up lecturing in the U. S. since Pierre deserted her at a fashion show in Paris. This reminded him that Sherry Volk had been very successful in the manufacture of corsets, to conceal your wiggle. He probably was most surprised at the thought of Bill Arrison making delicate time pieces and Jim Lewis being heavyweight boxing champion of the world. As old Father Time continued to reminisce, he saw Erwin Fichter in Club Tahiti. It seemed he had taken over for Tommy Dorsey, with Allan Buehner as his chief vocalist. Still looking into the past he saw Jo Ann Jensen now seated in Madison Square Garden listening to her son tell of the perfect class of '53. Barbara Hamley was happily married living on a chicken farm raising broilers. Surprisingly enough StanlcySanne was teaching commercial courses in M. G. H. S. His favorite class was typing, and his favorite warm-up sentence is, Now is the time for all you Jokers to stop shooting paper wads. ' Harlan Kinney was a bachelor, running his dad's tavern, No MEN Allowed. Strictly soft drinks. Thinking back, he thought of John Lewis, who was president of the R.R. and had done more for the children living on the opposite side of the tracks than anyone else. Now that he had seen in his mind all the Class of '53, Father Time passed on his way feeling remorseful that these fine, wonderful, energetic people were no longer living.
