M G H S 1 9 4 5 ■4 Last Will and Testament We, the Senior Class of the Meadow Grove High School, County of Madison and State of Nebraska, being of sound mind and disintegrating memory after four strenuous years, do hereby make, publish and declare this as our last will and testament. FIRST: We will to all who have our books the helpful notes therein. SECOND: To teachers we would give the seats we’ve left that they may gaze upon them with regret. THIRD: Our dinner crumbs we give to all the little mioe that haunt those halls. FOURTH: To our teachers, each and every one, we bequeath a liberal amount of examination papers to grade. FIFTH: To the Junior Class our old seats, with the loose desk tops and seat backs; our books with all or most of the leaves gone; and the gum under the desks for them to chew. SIXTH: We bequeath the following personal belongings, habits, etc., to our underclassmen: I— Bob Eggers wills his electronic books to any fellow who can understand them. He wills his air-mindness to LeOra Wieting who is always up in the air about something. II— Marilou Ferry wills her ability to spend Monday morning home in bed to all the girls who haven’t sense enough to stay home on Sunday night. III— Betty Jean Hannen wills all her “Means of Reducing” books to Marjorie Johnson. You need net worry Marjorie, they do not help anyway. IV— Isabelle Munger wills her ability to use those big words and the dictionary to Jim Schurman. V— Miriam Pollard leaves her silly little giggle to Betty Arrison. The assembly would not be the same without it. VI— Bette Schulze wills her blonde hair to Jim Ferry and her vitamin pills to Leonard Terry. Please take pills as directed. VII—Pamela Sessler wills her long list of correspondents to

M G H S 1 9 4 5 Prophecy O mystic ball, from out thy depths. The future to this class reveal. Thy knowledge, hidden deep from sight. Pray give us now, and naught conceal. I seem to see Hollywood, that facinating place of famous men and women. Here find Pamela Sessler sharing honors with Robert Eggers in the new play, “Modern People. Marilou Ferry will become a nurse, soothing the brows and raising the pulses of many an injured man. Betty Jean Hannen will become a popular history teacher, teaching the students that the wars all began in 1812. You think, perhaps as you gaze upon the aesthetic brow of Isabelle Munger that she will achieve fame and fortune as an artist, but 1 have knowledge that she will be a beauty specialist, lifting many a fallen face and renovating many a delapidated coiffure—a noble work indeed! Miriam Pollard will be a successful proprietor of a pet shop specializing in trained tleas. Bette Jeanne Schulze has taken Betty Hutton’s place as the New Blonde Bomb Shell. I seem to see that Hertha Terry wfill become a private secretary to a patient businessman, helping mix up his files and using her pet word “say etc. You perhaps, would predict for Junior Volk a career in Wall Street, but I have knowledge that he will be chief supervisor of garbage inspection in a near-by municipality. Now the ball is growing dim but I can still clear’.y see a wonderful new building, situated where Meadow Grove High School stood. Tall, four stories high, elevators, swimming pools, roof gardens, rest rooms, marble stairways, splendid library, gymnasium. auditorium, large sunny class-rooms, everything to make it an ideal school for boys and girls, for it is a new school. The name, cut deep over the entrance, reads Meadow' Grove High School. Dimmer and dimmer grows the ball. Its message is over. ❖ THE CRYSTAL GAZER. 1945

Opal Upton. You may also have my leaky pen. VIII— Hertha Terry wills her good nature to Joan Gast, providing she profits thereby. IX— Junior Volk wills that natural walk of his—the one which blows you right out of your seat when he walks by—to little. Bobby Werner. Having bequeathed all that we possess, have possessed and expect to possess, we hereby appoint our teachers as executors of this, our last will and testament. In witness whereof we have set our hands and seals this eighteenth day of May, A. D., 1945. (SIGNED) The Senior Class of 1945.
