WAR WHOOP — 179 TOTEM With an almost completely new staff, the TOTEM con- tinued its goal of preparing a yearbook which captured the year in words and pictures for the entire student body at McMurry College. Senior Dianna Merry returned for her fourth year on the staff as the Editor-in-Chief, and freshmen Laura Brooks, Lezlie Sweatt. and Denise Wilks joined the staff. The new Publications Director. Zackie Van Houten, also became a part of the TOTEM family as the new yearbook advisor. One major change in the process of printing the book took place this year in the selection of the yearbook dedi- catee. Faculty, staff, and administration members nom- inated over 50 individuals to receive this honor. The dedi- catee was chosen by the TOTEM Staff from a list of five finalists, and the selection was approved by the Vice Pres- idents and Dr. Thomas Kim. As a result of many hours of hard work, TOTEM pro- duction remained far ahead of schedule throughout the year. Deadlines were met early, even when the computer broke down and had to be sent away for repairs. It was not always easy, however. Sources were sometimes hard to find and pictures difficult to identify. Nevertheless, pages were completed and shipped to the publisher to be in- cluded in the yearbook. The 1988-89 TOTEM is now complete. With its delivery also comes the sincere desire of all those involved in its production that it includes all the memories of the year for you to look back upon for many years to come.
