V, Coming in for the win in the 500 free is Jennifer Findley Aqua tics Making Wa ves elying heavily on the girls Varsi- ty team to bring home the victo- ries was coach Gloria Christen- sen. She had high hopes to take on the power schools this year. The total number for the team was smaller than in the last four years, forcing some to swim in more than one event. Starting with three wins against Sierra High, Madera and Fres- no, the Highlanders met their first de- feat against Clovis. A few lead swimmers were Kris Blagg 1102, Andrea Bedell 1121, and Jennifer Findley I111. Boys swim team 's first year Coach Dirk Wardean said that the total of the swimmers on his team was tif teen, which was also a bit smaller than usual. We 've done fairly well, Wardean said, adding that they were sure to do the best they could. Leading swimmers were Da vid Falk f121, Brad Martinez I101, and ex- change student Sami Soli 1111. Coach Wardean also added that each individual had an IMPACT on the team. Being a competitive diver requires a skill and coordina- tion. The diving team 's IM- PACT showed otl' at Clovis as Senior Leslie Solis placed 2nd and Soph. Patty Robinson placed 5rd at the meet. Another meet McLane did great in was the Sanger one as Freshman Teresa Verduzco took 2nd place and Chrissy Hawkins took 4th place for the J.IL team. Soph.
