Tennis Players Swing In to Action he boy's and girl 's ten- nis teams started off the season with a full squad, including junior var- sity groups, which kept the number one player constant- ly improved to keep their standing. girls played hard fought matches with the other league schools and defeated Roosevelt 6-5. The J.lL's overcame Fresno High 5-1 for their first win. The num- ber one spot was rotated be- tween Raquel Rice and Me- linda Kogoma with Julie Sir- ois and Debbie Plunes right behind. The leading doubles team put Jill Fitzgerald with either Kogoma or Sirois. The boys likewise had a struggle getting in the win column. Their first victory over Sanger 5-4 was very sat- isfying. Sophomore Andy Kasner played the number one posi- tion all year supported by Oravanh Maokhamphiou in the number two spot. The Highlanders J.V. players were successful against Sanger, Madera, and Roose- velt.
