Always looking to pick a runner off base is Christi McAdoo. Team Spirit Helps Squad ard work and a strong pitching staff were what McLane 's 1987 Softball team counted on to get them victories. Having three pitchers and three catchers was a definite plus for the squad. The group was hoping to make an IMPACT on the league by making the playoffs for the first time in 5 years. Winning the Consolation Championship at the Roosevelt ln- vitational Tournament was a great way to start the season before league games began. The girls pulled out an exciting win over Bul- lard. The final score was 10-9 in a game that lasted 9 innings. They also played an 11 inning game against C. W. but lost by the score of 6-5. The team was lead by four sen- iors, Steffanie Adams, Dannelle Trapp, Laurie Lulejian and Tab Mooney. Stelfanie and Dannelle were both 4 yr. varsity players. Team togetherness was some- thing both coaches and the squad strived for. Even when errors were committed, the girls made up for them by playing with more spirit, concentration and drive than be- fore. This way an occasional bad throw during a game did not upset the rhythmn of the team. The JJL girls worked hard to keep up the winning tradition they had developed in the past with Coach Phyllis Owens. This year's squad was hoping to repeat as HYL Champs which was a difiicult task.
