Tony Vilar placed 4th in the 168lb. section but lost out in the divisional contest. The team had its first NYL vic- tory in three years against Sang- er. At the meet both Gabe Gon- zales and Vilar pinned their men in 45 seconds. At the Clovis Invitational Mike Luce, Soph., won individual hon- ors in his weight class. Soccer Team Pursues Finals nce again McLane 's Varsity Boys Soccer team brought recognition to the school through their successful win loss record. Even with three losses, McLane was able to com- pete in an N. KL. title game against Bullard. Unfortunately, the loss to the Knights stopped the season. The varsity boys kicked off the season with two league wins. Their first game against Hoover was 2-1, and the defeat of Roo- sevelt, 5-1, aimed the team for the 1Y.Y.L. The J. M team experienced many losses during the season but towards the end they defeated Fresno High, 2-0. The Freshmen had a very successful and exciting season. They ended their year with a 9-5-1 record. As a result, the team finished in a tie for second place among the other freshmen teams.
