Coming in from a gmling cross-country meet is Counting off a hill at Woodward park are Greg Donson, Charles Engle: Juan Llanez. Keith Guillory, Fabian Rodriguez. Pa cing Their Wa To The Top nce again the McLane 's cross-country team had an IMPACT on the school by taking first place in the city championship. Keith Guillozy won the varsity three mile race with a time of 1 7 minutes and 20 seconds, while Fabian Rodriguez came in second. Greg Donson, fifth, Juan Llanez tenth, and Steve Rametiz 15th added point to the highlanders success. Greg Donson finished 16th as McLane 's best runner in the IYYL championship race. McLane 's J. V. team finished as second place qualifiers with runners Charles Englert in first place, John Mickalian second, Jeff Gen- sen fourth, and Matt Trower as the 12th place runner. McLane 's Cross-country team started out the season in good shape, but injuries and grades hurt the squad. Three varsity members were lost due to grades while the top two runner were slowed down by illness 81' knee injuries. Despite the slow start early in the season, the team was still able to obtain victories. This year was more like a time to get ready for next year. We were small this year, but were deter- mined to make the season a good one, stated Coach Len Thornton.
