City Championship To Scots he two outstanding high- lights of the varsity foot- ball schedule this year was the defeating of the sixth ranked Edison Tigers and the onesided victory over the Roosevelt Rough Riders. This year's homecoming was all that and more for the varsity as they shocked the Tigers 54-21 in a bruising North Yosemite League battle. Putting on an of fense show was Junior Willie Turner as he ran back the open- ing kickoff 85 . yards for six points, and an additional six points were added later on a sec- ond kickoff return by Junior Hayward Demison. McLane routed their opponent with a ground game, as the High- landers crushed Roosevelt 42-7. Their big offensive weapon was Tyise Parks, who opened the first half with seventy six yards on nine carries, and who broke the game open in the third quarter with two more touchdowns. McLane 's Varsity football team had a definite IMPACT on the other teams in the league. Although the teams final out- come didn 't quite reach their goals for the year, there was a large amount of talent and skills displayed by the Jr. Varsity play- ers. The squad played son tough games, losing to Roos velt and Sanger by slim margin The boys should make terril varsity players next year. The Freshman 's football tea, won their first games in thrq years. Their first win cami against Edison. Coach Lloyd Wi gins was excited about th year's team because all the elfo and strategy that the crew pl into making them a winnir team. The team 's goal for tl year was to begin a new trac tion. A
