0 impress the student audience by his stuff is Gilbert Stevens. McLanes Music Style Marching Band 87 ith their heads high in the air, standing tall, and showing their pride, the MHS Marching Highlanders once again went into another fall season. They took the field for perfor- mances led by drum majors Terry Campbell and Eric Sherbon. Many long hours of re- hearsals were required to learn new marching drills, memorizing music, and re- hearsing the basic marching techniques. Out ofthe whole band unit, 5 separate groups per- formed along in other com- petitions. This was all a great IM- PACT upon the reputation of the school. The Highlanders were in- deed an elite group as it is the only one of its kind in California. They preserve all the im- portant traditions of McLane with their kilts, dances, and music. They were frequent participants at the Scottish games through out the state. Providing the pizazz and glamour to the band were the flag and letter girls. The auxillary groups worked long hours perfecting their rou- tines which they performed at the halfitime shows. Learning hand routines and jazz dance steps kept the lettergirls busy after school. Having the ability to do both tall and short flag routines kept the flag firls working all summer. Eving good coordination is wh 'd Terri Blinsmon show. I at it takes to be a good letter girl as Barbara Judy Smiles are very important to keep on your face i while doing a routine as shown by Kristi War kentin and Kelli Goodman. Taking a break from performing to take a goofy picture are Burt DeAnda, Nathan Wiens Peter Nicholson, Terry Campbell, David Weins Martrn Stuart, and Dean Olmstead. Band 4755.
