It is tradi- tionally a time of gathering with old and new friends and rediscovering all the good things McKendree has to offer. From the parade in the morning to the dance which lasts late into the night there is an unmistak- able feeling of excitement. In fact, the air of anticipation begins weeks before, as people build floats, watch the progress of the basketball team, and dis- cuss who will be crowned Queen. This year ' s Homecoming was a grand combination of color, nostalgia, merriment and beauty, with the theme being The World of Disney. The parade boasted a huge assort- ment of Disney characters, lively bands, pretty girls, and high-stepping drill teams. The success of the day continued as McKendree fans watched the Bearcats soundly defeat the Missouri Baptist trojans. The perfect finale to the day was the Queen ' s Coronation at Augustine ' s Restaurant. Even now, the 1972-73 Homecoming is a vivid memory to be cherished in years to come. HOMECOMING DANCE The climax of the weekend Homecoming activities came on Saturday, November 18, with the formal dinner-dance and Queen ' s Coronation at Augustine ' s Restaurant in Belleville. The ballroom was brightly decorated to carry over the Disney theme. Of course, the main point of interest was the naming of the new Homecoming Queen. Prior to this was the presentation of the 1972-73 court: Colleen Karrick, Freshman; Kathleen Bryant and Nancy Weible, Sophomores; Marguerite Comissiong, Junior; Queen candidates Marna Kettwich, Luanne Lucy; and the new Homecoming Queen, Sue Carmell. Students and townspeople alike were treated to a good, old-fashioned carnival which featured such attractions as a reptile house, a 150-pound pumpkin, a swami, and a chance to dunk a real, live, human target into a vat of cold water! Halloween Party ► m Halloween is traditionally a favorite holiday of children, and the little people who at- tended McKendree ' s Halloween party in Upper Deneen were certainty no exception. Be- sides the usual candy and pumpkins, the children were treated to games, stories, and a costume contest. Later in the evening, McKendree students had a party of their own, but its only similarity to the children ' s party was the decorations, refreshments, and costume contest. All Star Frog, a very popular group at McK, provided music for the evening. 4i «  . ma  tVf '  We plow the fields and ft I I. rftlf fr W • Hft Y. The 1973 January interim course, FINE ARTS IN PARIS, pro- vided an exciting opportunity for twelve McKendree students to broaden their experiences. For Rod Baer, Paul Bickel, Linda Ham- mond, Joe Jackson, Walker McCreary, Linda Michels, Stephen Piotrowski, Ruth Raeber, Gail Schnipper, Frank Washington, Cindy Wuebbles, Mr. and Mrs. P.G. Kennedy and their daughter Annette, the streets of Paris, France, became the most unique classroom available. Leaving St. Louis on the afternoon of January 4th, these students began three weeks of discovering a new world. By viewing historical areas, touring some of the world ' s greatest museums, and mainly by just experiencing the French people and their country, these students became more vitally aware of what is happening outside of the United States. Brotherhood, Individuality, Sportsmanship, Integrity, and an active participation in student affairs are just a few of the qualities created through membership in the organization. Adelphi, realizes that a college life consisting solely of academic routines fails to complete an individual ' s total education. Therefore, the organization provides an opportunity for its members to enjoy other activities associated with college life. This is achieved through such activities as intramural programs, parties, and our succulent pig roasts. 1. Jake Burhart 2. Tom Weil 3. Rich Miller 4. Dave Krause 5. Rodney McGrew 6. Tom Fohne 7.
