The Bearcats ' inclusion in the tournament marlcs its first invitation since becoming an independent team in 1963. The first game of the tournament saw Chicago State fall to McKendree, a game played in Lebanon. A spirited team then traveled to Millikan University for the deciding game of who was to represent District 20 in the Kansas City finals. Losing the game at Millikan was not an easy one, but everyone at McKendree is proud of their Bearcats and Coach for hav- ing such a fine season. Next year--it will be all the way to K.C. The Campus Program Association, a student organization, performs several functions at Mc- Kendree. The association provides films, rec- reation, fine arts, social life, hospitality, re- ligious life, public relations, and speaker pro- grams throughout the school year for the cam- pus community to enjoy. All students have the opportunity to be put on one or more of the eight committees and have a voice in the na- ture of the programs and services provided by the association. All matters concerning the as- sociation are ruled on by one or more of the committees, getting a cross-section of campus opinion before any action is taken. The Associa- tion is headed by our president who is elected in an all campus election by the students. Along with the president we have eight committee chairman and a staff adviser. The Campus Program associa- tion is a student organization using student funds for activities to ben- efit the students. This year at Mc- Kendree has been a most success- ful one for the association. 1st ROW: Left to Right; Don Bogue, Allison Taylor, Linda Meredith, Kathy Kenyon, Paul Meffert, David Durham. 2nd ROW: Linda Shawver, Sandra Ward. 3rd ROW: John Roth- well, Cletus Davis, Rick Newbury, Mark Baldwin, Richard Sternberg. w J M U E D N C O A A L R D Left to Right: Denise Morlan, Jane Templeton, Sandra Ward, Pat Knop, Dean Husted, Mary Cox, Karen Nottrott. Who ' s Who Each year certain students meeting certain requirei are nominated for the Who ' s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. This is to explain how these students, on our campus, become part of this publica- tion. Senior students who meet the criteria for nomination are screened by the Registrar and the faculty. A student advis- ory ballot is taken and the Faculty Committee on Student Life makes the final decision. The qualities considered in prospective nominees are those suggested by the editors of Who ' s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities: the student ' s excel- lence and sincerity in scholarship; his leadership and partici- pation in extracurricular and academic activities; his citi- zenship and service to the school; and his promise of future usefulness to business and society. Ken participated in cross country. Little League and as a class officer. Within his community, Ken was active in Church league and Boy Scouts where he achieved one of scouting ' s most admirable awards, that of Eagle Scout. Upon coming to McKendree, Ken, known to many as The Fraz , made of himself a student, a diplomat, a brother, a participant in many organ- izations and most of all a man; a man who shaU remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Ken was a sociology major and a psychology minor. He served as President and Treasurer of Phi Rho Chi, was a member of the Student Conduct Committee for two years, and was President of his sophomore class. As an athlete, Ken was a master at the game of tennis which he loved to play. He was also a member of The Letterman ' s Club. In service to his school, Ken represented McKendree College at two model United Nations As- semblies. Mr. Robert Brown, Professor of Sociology, spoke of Ken as a man of fairness and integrity whose zest and enthusiasm were an inspiration to us all . Ken gave his life for God and Country in Viet Nam, Sept. 19, 1968. It is with this thought in mind that we, the staff of the 1969 McKendrean, dedicate this book of memories to Kenneth Charles Frazer whose memory will dwell within the hearts of many forever.
