SIGMA TAU DELTA Sigma Tau Delta is a national honorary English fra- ternity. The purpose of this society is to foster creative writing and stimulate an appreciation of good literature. The lota Delta chapter was organized in McKendree in 1936. In most of the meetings this past year, the members read their original compositions. Monthly meetings were held and each member served as host during one of the sessions. Sigma Tau Delta received five pledges into membership this past year. ALPHA PSI OMEGA The Alpha Theta cast of Alpha Psi Omega is the na- tional honorary fraternity for dramatics on the campus. Its purpose is to develop and promote dramatic interests in the student body. Since there were two members at the beginning of the year, little was accomplished the first semester. Three pledges v ere taken into the fraternity. These pledges were: Joanne Bare, Mary Ellen Glotfelty and MyrI Herman. SIGMA ZETA The Sigma Zeta, honorary science society, is a national organization whose purpose is to encourage scientific study and to recognize students of high scholarship in the national sciences and mathematics. The Beta chapter at McKendree College was organized in 1926. Officers for 1945- ' 46: president, first semester, no election; second semester, James Loy; recorder-tearsurer. Dean C. J. Stowell, Other members are Dr. H, P. K. Agersborg, Prof. H C, Gutekunst, Prof S M McClure and Dr. E. R. Spencer. I. s. s. The third year of the society with its planned pro- grams and activities has proved both successful and stimulating for its members. Again its membership has been limited to those students who have had at least one year of a foreign language Correspondence with foreign students is encouraged.
