Coa hRay G org W lt Fa ness Ja e P escott R ld A d A thony Hoff an Dale Ehl 5 Rod ey Leir Geo ge Hoyt R1 ha d G h F s Rodn y A d so 'lv do Boys Basketball The Blazers began basketball practlce w1th h1gh hopes for the future The f1rst game of the season was played Wlth Warw1ck and ended m a one po1nt defeat for MCI-Ienry Throughout the season the McHenry boys fought hard always hopmg for season ended wlth ten v1ctor1es and seven defeats County Tourney season was aga1n at hand Our flrst game was played w1th Grace Clty The teams were qulte evenly matched and every player fought hard Four of our best players went out on fouls and that left two mam str1ng players and three subs Our players fought hard and the tempo of the game mcreased as shouts and screams came from the cheerlng sectlon Thanks to the vahant efforts of all the players the Blazers were v1ctor1ous The champlonshlp game was played w1th Glenfleld on Frlday n1ght and lt ended 1n vlctory for us We were awarded the lst place county trophy A week later the D1Str1Ct Tournament started The boys won the flrst game over Glenf1e1d and advanced to the sem1 fmals w1th Kensal The Blazers played hard and were three polnts ahead at the end of the flrst quarter but the game ended ln defeat for them The followlng n1ght we played Courtenay but were agaln defeated th1s gave us 4th qv' I , place 1I1 the d1str1ct Th1s ended the boy s season of basketball for 1951 52 fb A' ,U l 7 C C C, 3 EI' d , FD 5 X' , 0113 h EPSON, I1 m , er , n , r , 'c r ra am, Elton adne 5, 8 Il 61' n. .J- i N , e cf . FRONT ROW Collee Stute Sh 1le Mligley E anell Ba tlett Maxxne Conant Delo Bergstad Irene Hoffman Eleanor Cooper Dorothy Bartlett Arlene Bergstad Lola Anderson Patricia Anderson Janice Ehlers BACK ROW Kathryn Ramey Lou Ann Bjornson Coach Neland I-laavxg Maxme Aaker Rynetta Mxdgl y x '7 :Q Q V so Glrls Basketball The Blazerettes began then' season of basketball w1th a v1ctory over the Warwlck glrls The outlook for the future wasn t too brlght but we all hoped for the best But bad luck came our way and between measles ch1cken pox spralned ankles and flu one or more players were always m1ss1ng However the season held a lot of fun for all the team members Our season mcluded a game w1th Bowdon whom we had never played before The town was over slxty m1les dxstant frorn McHenry so the gmrls left the school 1n two cars at 4 30 We had a del1c1ous supper of eggs toast and bacon Ln Carr1ngton we also sn1tched a few COOk16S when the coach wasn t lookmg But the Bovxdon g1r1s added another defeat to our record However when the Bowdon glrls played at MCI-lenry we defeated them All the McHenry glrls were very proud and happy to beat tne team that later was awarded Znd place 1n the state Our season s record ended w1th about half v1ctor1es and half defeats County Tournament tlme came and we met and defeated Juanlta 1n the f1rst game Frlday nlght we played agalnst Bordulac for the champlonshm The Blazergttes fought vallantly but nervously and the score was very close But towards the end Bordulac galned a lead and we couldn t close the gap We were awarded the Znd place county trophy to finish our 51-52 season of basketball.
