VARSHY FOOTBAH.RECORD FOOTBALL The last floodlight has died, the bleachers cleared, and as the manager pauses reminiscently in his duties with a merthiolate bottle in one hand, bandages in the other and glances across the now deserted gridiron, a few sparkling incidences come to mind and relive themselves once more! . . . listen to the crowd cheering now as number 37 breaks around left end and Zig zags down the field eluding the entire Titusville team by his tricky broken-field running for atouchdown. Hickory's leading 13-0-number 30 with an injured leg keeps pestering the coach, Let me in, I'll take it all the way, and in he goes on his first play-it's a pass-over his head-no, he caught it! l! Look at him outrun his tacklers! But two more are ready to meet him on the five yard line and he runs right into-not through-them! The satis- fied grin across his dirty face as he limps off the field indicates his triumph. Now it's the ground. 27 to 32 alternating hand offs and passes, 32 is puffing like a steam en- gine, but they can't stop him. Commencing a seventy yard march down the field with a 27 to 32 hand off-it's over. But the ref calls it back. 27-32, over again, and this time for good. Here comes the Greenville coach into the locker room now, Where's that number 51? You're the toughest player we've come up against this year! KNO wonder, he was sent to the All-Star Game.J . . . The whistle blows at Oil City and-an injured man is seen lying on the field it's number 27-with a broken arm! They're going to kick. It's fumbled, recovered, fumbled again. Our 48 recovers and look at him go-tacklers just can't stop him, he rips across for 6 points! And what's that-another injured man? Number 32 is ly- ing on the ground, the clock stops. Badly injured? No, just some mighty clever cap- taining gaining a little extra time to set up the next play. With such as these nostalgic gems of athletic prowess recurring in our thoughts the curtain is rung down-ending the football season of the 1952 Trojans. EAST 25-0 A green Trojan team operating from the new split T formation was unable to stop the War- riors runniing attack. TITUSVILLE 27-6 Our first touchdown of the season came as Tinsman 'outdistanced the Whole Titusville team 55 yards on a hand off from Rautine for 6 points. CORRY 27-6 Catching Millcreek off-guard in the first quarter, the Beavers made 3 T.D.'s in rapid succession, but Millcreek rallied to thorough- ly outplay them the rest of the game. Our T.D. came as Debold passed to Storaci for 30 yards. GIRARD 12-6 Split decisions, fumbles, and bad breaks de- scribe this game wlien we only hit pay dirt once on a 7 yard hand off to Tinsman. HICKORY 13-19 Overcoming a lead of 13 points in the first half, the Blue and White bou-nced back with a pass from Tinsmian to Storaci covering 62 yards' for ral touchdown with LeJeail converting. A mlamch of 72 yards le-ad by Davis, and a Rau- tine to Tinsman pass accounted for 12 more points which gave us our first win of the season. GREENVILLE 6-0 Thanks to our terrific line, unsc-ored upon Greenville was unable to make ground during the game, but managed to make one T.D. short- ly after the whistle blew. OIL CITY 26-6 Kahl recovered a blocked punt and ran for 45 yards and six points .The Trojans were severely hampered by injuries as Van- Honk and Tinsman were unable to plvay while Rau- tine received a broken arm and was lost for the rest of the season. HARBORCREEK 6-18 Mitchell's 20 yard run, a 50 yard march spearheaded by Davis, and a 80 yard intercep- tion return by Storaci clinched our win over the Huskies. CONNEAUT 50-6 In spite of a raging blizzard, mud, 19 pen- alties the first half and 22 the second, the Tro- jans managed one touchdown on an ariel from Debold to Mitchell who sprinted across from the 10.
