Even more impressive is the third quarter when Wig first unleashed a right handed hook followed in rapid succession by a set shot from the left corner. The crowd responds as Ed spins in a left hand drive shot. Shortly after the beginning of the fourth, Joe steps to the foul line and barely glancing at the basket, sinks a single pointer. Receiving an ovation as he walks off the floor, Goose is replaced by Quentin who makes a successful right handed hook in a matter of seconds. At the sound of the final buzzer, the shadows fade back into oblivion. Only audible now in the gym is the drip, drip, drip of the showers, for the curtain has decended on this aspect of the sporting scene. Staring into the shadows they be- gin to assume familiar shapes. It's clearing-a game is starting-the pole blocks the view, but by the tra- jectory of the ball as it arches to- ward the bankboard and rebounds through the net, one can recognize it as one of Les' push shots. Ed and Dad bring the ball down the court, then Dad, with a quick dribble and twist of the body, sinks a terrific basket.
