KALDRoN,.,.,1 Hall Patrol The Hall Patrol was organized in 1938 by Mr. Crandall. Under his direction this club has become an important organization in Millcreek High School. The Hall Patrol consists of boys from the eighth to the twelfth grades who know the rules and regulations of the school perfectly. The black arrowed lines in the halls are to aid the student body and do away with unnecessary confusion. Students are required to keep to the right and to keep the lines moving. The Hall Patrol does not have any important social activities, but the members receive awards at the end of the school year. Clooraf The Millcreek High School Chorus, under the capable direction of Mr. Crandall, was very active this year. It had a membership of nearly one hundred students. On December 12., the Chorus participated in a radio program presented by the Tuberculosis Association, over Station W.L.E.U., and on December 15, sang Christ- mas music over the Public Address System in Erie. A Christmas concert was also presented in the school. In March, a program was given at Wesleyville High School. Shortly after this the Chorus lost its efficient director, who had been at Millcreek for the past eleven years. After his departure the organization was taken over by another excellent director- Miss Strickler, who worked very hard to get it under way again. The Chorus entered the Spring Festival, held in the college building at Edinboro, May 8th and 9th. Several numbers were presented. This organization has already established a line record for Millcreek High School. Commercial Club The Commerical Club was organized in the Fall of 1939 under the sponsorship of Miss Zuck. Since it was started it has become one of the important clubs of Millcreek. The purpose of the Commercial Club is to develop its members into all-around personalities and to help them become good secretaries. It also teaches them how to apply for a position. The club sponsors teas, book reviews, clean-up campaigns, and English campaigns. There are twelve members in the club. The officers are: President, Dorothy Detisch, Vice President, Marian Kanis, Secretary, Evelyn Weber. N atronal H orzor Society For the last eight years fifteen percent of each graduating class from Millcreek High School have been chosen to receive the highest honor that can be given a high school student-membership in the National Honor Society. Now nearly one hundred Millcreek alumni wear the official emblem of the National Honor Society-a flaming torch mounted upon a keystone. Four letters-C, S, L, and S-around the base of the design, symbolize the four requirements for membership . . . Character, Scholar- ship, Leadership, and Service. Ten percent of each senior class and five percent of each junior class are elected by the faculty at the close of each school year, but the students' names remain on the roll only as long as they maintain high standards. Those elected from the Junior Class of the school year 1940-1941 were as follows: Dorothy Anderson, Donald Kohl, Betty Roesch, Helen Waidley and Richard Kidder. 61
