60l0 Z9 y The kickoff for the annual extravaganza which rivals the Mardi Gras in excite- ment, the MHS COLOR DAY, came Thursday evening. October 18. when the cit- izens of MHS flocked to the annual bon fire held behind the high school. The warmth of the fire hardly matched the spirit and enthusiasm of the Red Peppers and the many other Bison partisans that assembled to cheer MHS on to victory. Fol- lowing the bonfire. the traditional snake dance found its way along Norris avenue to a downtown rallying spot. Next day, school spirit reached its climax as Color Day came at last. First came the M Club sponsored rally with the presentation of the skit written and produced by M Club members. President Chapel introduced the actors. i l Then followed a production which would have been the envy of Shakespeare. The acting may not have been polished but the spirit was there as the Saints in Heaven went about their business of examining prospective tenants. Notable rejections included a well known sports writer and the foe for the eveningis football contest, the Alliance Bulldogs. After the saintly Bison triumphed over the evil Alliance devil, another parade formed to continue the show of enthusiasm. Led by the midwest marching band champions. the MHS band, the pep club and hundreds of other boosters marched downtown to prove that 'iwe've got the vim, weave got the pepf' Following the downtown rally, all hands had to be content for a brief lull in activity before the final salvo was fired at Weiland stadium for the gridiron con- test. During the period of inactivity, however, speculation was varied as to who had received the honors of being football Sweetheart and Man of the Year. nt f 51 iii lvflo v ...ill Q.
