Executive Officer LCdr. James F. Deppe, USN A native Texan, Lieutenant Commander Deppe is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Deppe of Carthage, Texas. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in June 1974. Between July 1974 and July 1977, he served as CIC Officer and Assistant First Lieutenant in USS FRED- ERICK (LST-1184). From August 1977 until August 1980 he served as a Navigation and Seamanship Instruc- tor and as an Officer-in-Charge Afloat at the Yard Patrol Craft Branch of the Naval Education and Training Cen- ter, Newport, Rhode Island. During this tour, he com- pleted a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling at Providence College. Upon graduation from the Surface Warfare Officer School Department Head Course in April 1981, he was assigned as Chief Engineer in USS COOK (FF-1083) from June 1981 through January 1983. From March 1983 until August 1984 he served as Operations Officer in USS JUNEAU (LPD-10). He was subsequently ordered to the Naval Military Personnel Command in Washington, D.C., where he served as a De- tailer and Sea Coordinator in the Surface Junior Officer Assignment Branch from September 1984 until Septem- ber 1986. He has been Executive Office in McCLUSKY since December 1986. Lieutenant Commander Deppe ' s personal decora- tions include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the Navy Achievement Med- al. Lieutenant Commander Deppe is married to the former Ellen Marie Shaid of Coronado, California. The Deppe ' s have one son, Russell, born in 1985.
