Appointed eonnnandant in 1923, Col- onel headed the military' department from that time until 1941, when he hegan five years of service with the armed forces in the Pacific. After the war Colonel hecame Business Man- ager for McCallie and resumed his post of coni- mandant, Extending his influence beyond the school. he has served as a memher of the Hanl- ilton County Council and was two years ago elected Police Commissioner of Chattanooga. He was honored in 1953 with the position ol ,Xssoeiate Headmaster. hut was forced to resign last year hecause of other obligations, However. he has retained his position as commandant. and he is the guiding spirit hehind our military' de- partment. Lieutenant W, ll. Green is a veteran of Wtirlml War Il and the Korean action, having received in the latter a hattlefield commission, As a result ol wounds received in eomhat, he returned to the states and was assigned to Central High as an ROTC instructor, :X lter his release from active duty in l'I3Al, he eanie to McCallie as assistant to the eonnnandant and husiness manager.
