IIPIENIEII I3- Nlcllallie 143 CHA 13 The next Saturday the Tornado met a hardened CMA team at Columbia on a hot. dry afternoon Bill Kuhlke's toe proved to he the margin of victory as the Blue won H-13. The Blues started several drives in the first h hut CHA got the breaks and kept NleCallie out of the scoring eolumn until David Milligan eon- neeted with Jimmy Sims for a TD late in the hall. ln the seeond half CHA controlled the hall largely. hut. after the Cadets scored. Don Welch went oll laekle 35 yards and Kuhlke converted a set-ond time lo provide the winning margin. CMA eontrolled the hall the rest of the time, scoring onee again. They were halted on a third drive late in the game. liill Kuhlke and Don Weleh played outstanding games in the haekfield. The Blue line. although out- weighed. turned in a ereditalmle performance. Meliallie 233 Commercial 20 On October 6 the Tornado met Commercial High of Savannah. winning hy eight points. 28-20. Ble- Callie drew first lilood. as ,limmy Sims went 54 yards off-tackle for the touchdown on the sec-ond Blue offensive play of the game. Kuhlke made his first of four conversions, ln the second quarter Jimmy Sims took a pitehout on the seeond play and threw a 20-yard pass to Nlaleolm Prewitt in the end zone. It looked as though NleCallie would run away with the game. but the Colzras then marched T2 yards for a sf-ore to make it 14-6. Don Welt-h stored later in the seeond quarter as lie jogged 7 yards around right end to eap a 611-yard drive, Commereial tllen went 02 yards to make it 21-li The Tornado got its hnal TD in the third when jimmy Sims went over on a right end sm-qi.
