Millions of details must be taken care of in order to make daily school life run smoothly. These are ironed out in the of- fice which becomes so familiar to every student very early in his high school career. Every imaginable type of problem is brought to our secretaries who handle them all with a patience that never wears thin. Wfithout the cooks we would have no hot lunches and no delicious banquets. The custodians do a fine job of keeping our school neat and clean. They are especially helpful around dance time, when they are always there to help clean up. Our bus drivers are also a special part of each school day, they make possible for the great number of students to be transported to and from school each day. We are very proud of all of them for a fine job well done. I ' .ii ,, :wwf H '.1.. l W W'.,,,,-51 J E 3 V 5 . These excellent teachers have the responsibility of helping us learn what will be most profitable for our later years and of helping us choose subjects which will benefit us most in the future. All of them do an excellent job of counseling us. Besides the necessary classroom duties, many members of our faculty act as coaches of our reams and advisors of our clubs and organi- zations. Among the fine attributes of the faculty is the friendly and helpful attitude with which they proceed daily. Qualities such as these are greatly appreciated and admired by all of us. 13 Advanced Math Follows We1lnow, let me see . . . . ,ei Mr. Joseph G. Class of '60 The graduating class of 1960 'can look back with fond hearts upon the days they have spent at Maumee High. How much some wish that they could turn back the hands of time and live once more those precious hours which now are held as memories. Their freshman year they entered Maumee High a little shy and uncertain of what was to be ahead. Soon everyone adjusted himself and all began to feel as one. Then came their sophomore year and the days of fun and parties. How active they were in school activ- ities, and how very much all enjoyed doing things together. The junior year brought with it the responsibilities of being an upperclassman. One of these important jobs was planning the Jr.-Sr. Prom- Apple blossom Time. Many also could boast shiny new class rings which gave them an important air. A long awaited senior year followed. This year held many things to remember. Recall how each one had to sit still for rwo minutes when pictures were taken. Remember when our caps and gowns were fitted, and when announcements were issued. The senior prom Carousel gave everyone an evening full of memories, and june 7th brought with ir tears. Perhaps the paths of some may never cross again. Perhaps great things are destined for many, and others may never make the grade. Only God knows what lies ahead for this Class of 1960 and let us all pray that luck and happiness walk with them always. ' '::. -. gU.3.','., Class of '61 Being an upperclassman at last is a very good feeling-as any junior could tell you at the beginning of the school year. The Junior Class has accomplished a great deal academically and in sports during their freshman and sophomore years here at M.H.S. This year was perhaps the first time that they accepted responsibility and challenges as a class. Few were the juniors who did not lend a hand with the planning of the junior-Senior Prom and who did not participate in Field Day to help win the meet. As a class they have really come into their own and are gaining the best of reputations for themselves. The last and biggest year of high school is ahead for this class and everyone can be sure that it will meet all the challenges that it holds. We know that these juniors will make Maumee proud-not only as seniors, but in future years also. For their officers this year the junior Class has chosen Deanna Ammon, Treamrerg Dick Dardenne, Vice-P1'eJidenl,,' Carol Pfleghaar, Segreraryg Jim Roberts,P1'eJident . If -'n ' t Class of '62 The sophomore class had lost any feeling of self-consciousness which they might have had as freshmen over the summer vacation. When they returned to the places they had made for themselves in Maumee High, all went their own way with a new air of self-reliance. Showing an extreme interest in extracurricular activities, this class has given Maumee many promising athletes and leaders of tomorrow. We know that their last two years at Maumee High will be filled with good times as well as great achievements. This year's sophomore class officers were Bill Schaich, Preridentg Peggy Conrad, Vice-Preride-nt,' Mike Contat, Trea.rurer,' Linda Lovejoy, Secretary. They didnlt know just what to expect in this new phase of school life, but it didn't take them long to ad- just to their new surroundings. Soon they were playing an active part in clubs and sports throughout the school. Perhaps, it is that they are our elected representatives and are our voice in school policy. Many remember, too, that the stu- dent council was responsible for many of the happy mo- ments of our school year. They sponsored many assemblies as well as coming to our aid uncountable times with sup- plies at the bookstore. Then, there was the Christmas Prom, Silver Bells. All who were there have, at one time or another, said a silent thanks to the council for such an enjoyable evening. 4 This year's Student Coun- cil officers are jim Rich- ardson, Presidentg Martha Heilman, Vice-President,- Cathie McBride, Secretaryg john Miller, Treasurer. This year Dolly Mokri was chosen as Maumee's representative and candidate for queen of the area Student Council A dance, Misty. The snappy marching during the football halftime shows made the student body proud to claim them. Football season seemed to end very soon and the band under- went the annual change to a concert band for the remainder of the year. Throughout the year various musical assemblies were presented and then were climaxed by the Spring Concert in May. According to custom, the Band Banquet and dance were held for band members and their dates toward the end of the school year. Primitif is happily remembered by all who attended. The M.H.S. Band has had a fine year and is looking forward to repeating all the hard work, fun, and accomplishment again during the '60-'61 school year. The combined groups have mer together throughout the year for the expressed purpose of producing the spring and fall plays. Both Thespian productions, this year, were received with great enthusiasm making it a successful year for all concerned. Margrer Chase's famous Harvey was the first produc- tion. with Prudence I-Ienahan and Marshall Orwell carrying the title roles. The second production was the Curi- ous Savagen with Mary Ann Brady heading the list of characters in this production. A one HCI play was pre' pared for entrance in the state competi- tion using The Marriage Proposal for their vehicle. Our gridiron was chosen Co-Champion of the Northern Lakes League. There are many factors that are part of creating a star: Fine coaching, determination, enthusiasm, and spirit, but each individual, star or not, helps to make the most important asset a team can have- harmony. It was a success, though, in co-opera- tion, desire to win, and hopes for next year for the returning members. This was ac- companied by the wishes to the senior players that they too would be back to have a Part in the future success of our Fighting Panthers. 102 The Hopes of Tomorrow Firrl Roux' K. The reserve squad had many ups and downs during the 1959-1960 season. But we felt it was successful in that the boys played as a unit and fine individual and team character was displayed on and off the floor. Witlu the ex- perience they gained this year, many of the boys will do a very creditable job for Maumee High in the coming bas- ketball season. Wie had the cream of the crop from the five junior high Schools who blended together into a good team. The squad ended the season with a 6-5 record which included the Bowling Green Invitational Tournament. There will be a number of boys who will help the reserves next year and some may even find their way to the varsity. Frmli to Bark: D. Roberts, R. Smith, B. Kumpe, J. Dowling, -I. Corron, H.
