Business Manager 7849 7949 ibeobcafabn As the theme of our annual this year is The '49ers , it seems fitting that we should dedicate this yearbook to the forefathers and builders of our community. Without the strength and forbearance of these men who developed and cultivated the land, our community would not be the yield- ing, prosperous community that it is today. Also, our yearbook should be dedicated to the present '49ers, the men, women, and children who are building and improving Maumee today. To our merchants, to our clergy- men, to our food producers, to our parents, to our teachers, and to ourselves, the students of Maumee High School, who, by our learning, will help to make Maumee an even better place in which to live, this book is dedicated. ilflimin .wegie Guam PRESENTATION DED I CATION ADMINISTRATION FACULTY STUDENTS CLUBS SPORTS SNAPS ADVERTISEMENTS OIWQ lff!0If' ' What can give you more satisfaction than to have, in some tangible form, a way of remembering your high school days. They contributed to all branches of Maumee's activi- ties. They excelled in athletics, being well represented on both the football and the basketball teams. When it came to track and baseball, the seniors again led the way. There were energetic senior workers on both of the school's publications. They did well in the music line, too, even as far as to sing for their own commence- ment. The Dramatics Club held a large number of seniors both in the acting and in the production jobs. In order to bring some money into their sagging trea- sury, the class of '49 sponsored an after-game dance and a Donkey Basketball game which was a howling success. A few class parties were given in the gym where the class got together and square danced, ate, played cards, and got to know each other much better. To wind up the year they gave a Senior Prom which will, in the future, be hard to beat. The seniors also proved to themselves and to the whole school that they could manage themselves on their own as well as any college student. They were given privilege cards which entitled them to miss all study halls provided they attend their regular classes. This f ' sl lg S I2 A if a was certainly a creditable gift to the school and to the . Senior classes to come. t' X - All these things were able to be accomplished by the Class of I949 only by the patience and careful guidance of the administration, the faculty, and the senior faculty advisor, Mrs. Mohr. Good work, Seniors! Here's to you! We wish you the best of luck in taking your place in the modern world, and in the years to come we'll never forget the 49ers. They opened the year with the Junior Carnival, which was more than enjoyable to all those who attended. At the carnival a junior talent show was given. This talent show challenges any talent show the school might give in the future. As far as inter-class activities go, they gave a roast at Fort Meigs in the fall and a picnic in the spring. Our conscientious juniors also sponsored two after game dances, had two fudge sales, and gave a bake sale, all of which prepared their treasury for the successful Junior-Senior Dinner Dance given at the end of the year. As a final gift to the class of l949, they provided the flowers for the Senior bacca- laureate service. The class of i950 is an excellent- example of a class who goes places by working togeth- er with congeniality and without friction. These ambitious students plan to continue their commendable class spirit into their senior year. .1 lfmiom f j -- .Y gg. Q, .Q , 1 h hhle . I f z if fl' Q vii, ' -' I if ' H Y I . L 5. In the spring of each year a formal induction is held to install qualified members of the junior and senior classes. This year the Honor Society sponsored the annual March of Dimes cam- paign in the high school. Along with this, the members both passed out to and collected from the local merchants the containers for contributions. They sponsored an after-game dance and donated their earnings to the campaign. Each night during the campaign, two members of this organiza- tion stood outside the local theater to collect the contributions of the patrons, With all this effort, the campaign in the high school was a very successful one.
